Research
The research phase involved exploring African symbolism, Pan-African cultural aesthetics, and visual language associated with heritage and empowerment. Studies of podcast branding trends revealed that many lacked depth or cultural specificity, presenting an opportunity to design an identity that was distinct, bold, and emotionally resonant. Audience insights emphasized the need for authenticity and pride, guiding the design process toward visuals that carry meaning, history, and strength.
Design
The design approach combined earthy, grounded tones with bold typography and symbolic elements to echo the podcast’s themes of heritage, spirituality, and clarity. The balance between modern minimalism and cultural richness ensures adaptability across platforms — from digital artwork and podcast covers to social media content. The design speaks with confidence, authority, and cultural pride, matching the energy of the spoken word.
Concept
The concept for Innerstand to Overstand was to translate the podcast’s cultural depth and spiritual authenticity into a strong, recognizable identity. The goal was to reflect Twnaney’s vision of self-knowledge, heritage, and empowerment while creating a platform that resonates with African and Pan-African audiences. The identity needed to feel both intellectual and soulful, rooted in truth yet approachable for a modern, global community.
Finalization
The finalized identity was refined to project consistency, strength, and authenticity. Every element — from font selection to color harmony — was aligned with the brand’s mission of truth-telling and empowerment. The result is a cohesive system that not only strengthens the podcast’s presence but also amplifies its cultural impact, ensuring the brand remains memorable and powerful within the growing podcast space.
